Spring-Jack Floating Floor System

Original Noise Problem
 In an effort to stave off any future noise problems, SVA partnered with the acoustical consultant (Cavanaugh Tocci) during the design phase to implement a spring jack floating floor system for the fitness facility. The gym is located on the fourth floor of the building which would cause noise problems for the tenants below.

Solutions/Materials Used
SVA designed and provided a spring jack-up floating floor to confine the noise in the weight room. The space required a 4” thick concrete slab, 1” deflection springs & 1” air space to mitigate the impact noise from the gym.
